Our mission is to provide a diverse selection of unique,pre-loved, gently used merchandise at prices far below retail to meet the needs of thrift families in our community.
how we were founded
Helen Stover was an essential part of the origination of the Marble Falls Library Thrift Store.
Helen (Brisbois) Garnaas Stover 87, of Marble Falls died Oct. 7, 2012. She was born on Feb. 1, 1925, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and grew up in Minneapolis. Her life was defined by her service to others — most notably her many years of volunteer work on behalf of the Marble Falls Public Library. She served on the library board for 20 years and, as a volunteer, managed the library thrift store and more than 40 volunteers for 21 years. Profits from the store helped finance a new library for Marble Falls.
Not only did she manage the thrift store to benefit the library, she was instrumental in using the thrift store to assist residents in the community who were in need. She collected children’s clothing to send to the elementary school on an ongoing basis. She gathered donations for families who had lost everything in fires, storms and other tragedies. She organized items to be sent to area nursing homes. When Hurricane Katrina victims came to the Marble Falls area, she made sure they had donations of bedding and clothing.
In November 2011, she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for the Texas Highlands region.
